“He deceived the people’s deputies”: Bezuglyu seeks expulsion from the Rada National Security Committee

According to committee member Fyodor Venislavsky, the people’s deputy gave false information about the bill that would allow the military to take the post of defense minister. In response, Mariana Bezuglaya recalled the General Staff’s attempt to create a separate intelligence agency.

The Verkhovna Rada proposes to recall the people’s deputy “People’s Servant” Maryana Bezugluya from the parliamentary committee of national security, defense and intelligence. Draft resolution 9068 was published on the Rada website on 28 February.

The initiator of the bill is the People’s Deputy Fyodor Venislavsky, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence.

The initiative amends paragraph 1 of the resolution of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine dated August 29, 2019 “On the election of presidents, first deputy, vice-chairmen, secretaries and committee members of the 9th meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.”

The explanatory note in the document provides an explanation for this decision. According to Venislavsky, Bezuglaya improperly fulfills the duties of the deputy chairman of the committee. In a committee meeting on February 16, 2023, Bezuglaya, while discussing the bill no. 4210 in the 2nd reading, gave false information to her colleagues that the style of the text of the document was pre-approved with the Main Intelligence Directorate. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR MO) gives its justification.

This bill proposes to allow a military man to be appointed as the Minister of Defense of Ukraine during the period of martial law without resigning from service. The bill was voted in the Rada on February 16 last year. In general, it has not yet been accepted. The initiator of the document is Denys Shmygal, Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Venislavsky said that Bezuglaya did not provide any documents to the committee members. In a letter dated February 22 by Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, addressed to the chairman of the committee, Alexander Zavitnevich, it is said that the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Moscow Region does not support this. bill, he added.

The author of the decision, “Bezuglaya deliberately misled the members of the committee by deliberately providing unreliable information to people’s deputies, which in itself contains signs of a criminal offense under article 351, part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.”

According to Venislavsky, Bezuglya’s actions pose a threat to Ukraine’s national security, especially under martial law.

Maryana Bezugly’s position

Bezuglaya noted on Facebook that she read in detail the explanatory note on Venislavsky’s draft resolution.

“In general, a norm was developed on intelligence. The General Staff (as one of the options in one of the working editorials in the working group) proposed the creation of a separate intelligence agency. I contacted Budanov, he gave his specialists for processing, and we removed this phrase, and the General Staff of J2 (intelligence agency) proposed the creation of a separate intelligence agency. We determined its function in ‘ with a single sentence,” he wrote.

The public’s attorney is sure to mention such work at a committee meeting, and this was reflected in the voice protocol. After this came a letter signed by Budanov, according to Bezuglaya, stating that the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense was opposed to the draft law 4210, since a separate intelligence agency was created there.

“This is neither in the 1st reading version we voted for, nor in the current desk. Who provided such a letter for his signature and what kind of disassembly is this, I’m not ready to answer yet. And in general I don’t think it’s appropriate to comment further,” concluded the politician. .

Recall that on February 24, Budanov spoke about the plans of the RF Armed Forces to invade Ukraine on a full scale. According to him, the Kremlin planned to quickly transfer airborne troops and special forces to Kiev.

According to the British edition of the Financial Times, fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych in the first days of the great war was supposed to declare the former People’s Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk, deprived of Ukrainian citizenship, as the “head” of Ukraine.
