Valery Gerasimov and Russia’s top military leadership could remove the Russian leader from the presidency, according to Richard Dannat, Russia’s commander of the Joint Forces Group in Ukraine.

“I would like to think that if Ukraine’s counterattack is well planned, supported, and executed well enough, Putin won’t be in a position to make too many decisions on his own. And I think if his army splinters and flees, it’s quite possible that he will be kicked out of the Kremlin,” Dannat said.
The British general said the war could end as early as this year if Kiev soon receives more heavy tanks from Germany and the United States, as well as warplanes and other essential weapons.
“Honestly, I don’t think we’ve done enough. We should do everything we can to make sure the war ends this year,” said Dannat.

The former chief of the British General Staff noted that Russia’s military leadership was dissatisfied with Putin’s actions, so they would likely have a hand in making the Russian president lose power.
