We do not trade territory: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to Brazil’s offer to give Crimea

Brazilian President Lula da Silva spoke of the impossibility of “fulfilling all the wishes” of Volodymyr Zelensky. Kiev sees no reason for concessions even on “an inch of Ukrainian soil”.

Ukraine does not trade in its own territory. This statement was made on April 7 by Oleg Nikolenko, press secretary of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s proposal to cede Crimea to Russia to end the great war.

Lula da Silva, in a meeting with journalists, said that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be able to take over Ukraine, and perhaps “Crimea is worth discussing”. Da Silva wants to discuss the idea with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing next week.

Brazilian channel G1 added that the president of Brazil talked about the impossibility of “fulfilling his desires” of Vladimir Zelensky.

“And Zelensky can’t have everything he thinks he wants. NATO won’t be able to get along (with Russia) at the border. All this is a matter we need to resolve through negotiation.”

Kiev’s stance is in the Foreign Ministry: “Ukraine appreciates the efforts of the President of Brazil to find a solution to stop Russian aggression. At the same time, we must make it clear: Ukraine does not trade on its territory.”

Nikolenko focused on the lack of legal, political and moral reasons for concessions to “at least one centimeter of Ukrainian soil”.

Ukraine’s position has not changed – any mediation effort to restore peace must be based on respect for sovereignty and the full restoration of the country’s territorial integrity in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the administration of the President of Brazil have not yet commented on the reaction of the Ukrainian department.

On April 7, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the decision to de-occupy Crimea must be made in Kiev. The United States has pledged to support the Ukrainians and protect the country’s territorial integrity.

Recall that on April 7, the former commander of the US troops in Europe, Ben Hodges, set the target of the planned counterattack of the Ukrainian army. The liberation of Crimea will be aimed.

Western experts noted the export of military equipment to the north of Crimea. There were tanks, armored vehicles and artillery in this area.
