“Despite wrong words and actions”: China seeks to improve relations with the United States

Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang believes it is imperative to stabilize Sino-US relations.

China has expressed a desire to stabilize relations with the United States, despite accusing the United States of “a series of false words and actions” that have worsened those relations. Reuters writes this today, May 8th.

During a meeting with US Ambassador Nicholas Burns in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang said it was imperative to stabilize China-US relations. We are talking about the Taiwan issue and the “scraping of the one China principle”.

“Since then, a series of misguided US words and actions have undermined the hard-won positive momentum of Sino-US relations.”

He said cooperation between the countries has been undermined and relations between the two countries are “again faced with cold ice”.

On May 5, US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haynes said that China is considering using force to seize Taiwan.

On May 2, US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns said that the US wanted China to influence the Russian Federation’s decision to end the war in Ukraine.

During a briefing on April 28, Volodymyr Zelensky said that he had discussed with the Chinese leader the issue of Beijing’s active participation in Ukraine’s peace initiatives.
