The health of People’s Deputy Nestor Shufrich probably deteriorated during the preparatory hearing of the treason case, said SBI representative Tatyana Sapyan. To find out what happened, the department turned to investigators.
The case of the deputy of the OPZZH Nestor Shufrich, who is suspected of, among other things, treason and attempts to overthrow the constitutional order and change borders, went to court. At this stage, the politician moved from the category of suspect to the category of accused. This is probably why he was not feeling well, and there were fears that he was dead. Tatyana Sapyan, Advisor to the State Investigation Bureau for Strategic Communications, spoke about Shufrich’s health during the telethon.
Sapyan noted that the State Investigation Bureau turned to investigators to determine whether the defendants’ attorney was alive. Investigators said he was fine, but he may have had a stress reaction. The aggravation may be due to preliminary hearings, where evidence of the defendants’ guilt will be considered. The official listed the crimes in the Criminal Code that Nestor Shufrich is suspected of committing personally or together with his accomplices. We are talking about overthrowing the constitutional order, seizing power, changing the constitutional order, financing treason.
“We clarified this directly with the investigators. In fact, he is alive, everything will be fine. Maybe we consider it a reaction to stress. Because this week the treason case against a sitting MP was sent to court and, maybe, my health is really a little bad,” Sapyan said.
It is worth noting that on September 4, Suspilna reported that Shufrich had fallen ill in the Pechersk courtroom in Kiev. Then on September 5, former People’s Deputy Igor Mosiychuk wrote that the politician had died “in prison.” The statement was immediately denied by the Prosecutor General’s Office: they said that the news was premature.
The current MP Nestor Shufrich was detained on September 15, 2023. The politician spent a year behind bars while an investigation into documents found in his house is ongoing. Journalists’ sources provided photos of the “concept” of the territorial structure of Ukraine, signed by the current People’s Deputy and the fugitive People’s Deputy Viktor Medvedko. According to the concept, the occupied regions of Donbass were to become a “legal” part of the Russian Federation.
We would like to remind that on August 25, sources of the Gravred publication reported that the People’s Deputy Artem Dmitruk fled from Ukraine to Moldova. After that, investigative journalists found out how he managed to do it.
