NATO invitation and weapons: what Zelensky is looking for in the US – Bloomberg

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will seek an official invitation from US President Joe Biden to join NATO, as well as a commitment from the US to continuous supplies of modern weapons as part of a plan to end the war with the Russian Federation, writes Bloomberg.

Journalists said Zelensky is expected to present Biden with a plan that includes European Union membership as well as other economic and security agreements. The presentation is set for September 26.

The publication writes that some of Ukraine’s supporters have begun to consider options for a ceasefire and negotiations, during which Zelensky maintained his previous position that Ukraine will not give up the territories seized by Russia.

It was noted that the breakthrough of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, as well as Kiev’s recent demand to carry out deeper incursions into Russian territory using US and British weapons, raise questions among Washington and its allies regarding Zelensky’s strategy in the period up to 2025.
