The Russian Football Union sent a letter to UEFA demanding the removal of the head coach of the Ukrainian national team Oleksandr Petrakov for discriminatory calls directed against the Russians. The Guardian writes about it.

We are talking about the statements of Petrakov, in which he calls for the removal of football players from the Russian Federation from all international competitions. In addition, the coach openly declared his desire to join the defense and kill the Russians.

In the commentary of the communications service of the RFU, received by SE, it is said that the RFU did apply to FIFA and UEFA, including in connection with the discriminatory statements of the head coach of the Ukrainian national team against the Russians.

“We consider such expressions unacceptable, which attracted the attention of FIFA and UEFA. The letter was sent in June, we are now awaiting a decision.”, – said the communications service.

In March, FIFA and UEFA decided to remove Russian football teams from international competitions. Because of this, Spartak Moscow lost the opportunity to play in the 1/8 finals of the Europa League, and the Russian team was excluded from the standings of the 2022 play-offs in Qatar.

In May, UEFA suspended all Russian clubs and national teams for the 2022/23 season. Clubs are not allowed to European competition and the Russian team will not participate in the League of Nations.
