RUSADA will not announce a decision on the case of figure skater Valieva

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency has said it will not make public the decision in the case of figure skater Kamila Valieva in order to protect her as a member of the ROC team.

RUSADA justified this decision with clause 4.1 of the International Standard for Results Management, according to which all processes and procedures of the case are confidential.

“Strictly observing the principles of international and Russian anti-doping standards, and also taking into account the nature and circumstances of the case, RUSADA does not intend to announce the date of the hearing, the decision or other details in the case of the figure skater, a member of the ROC team,” – wrote in the agency’s official Telegram channel.

Earlier, WADA called for speeding up the investigation into the figure skater’s case. Recall that last year Valieva participated in the Beijing Olympics, where she won the team competition. However, Valieva’s doping test was positive for trimetazidine.

Recall that Kamila Valieva was the leader after the short program in individual competitions at the Beijing Olympics. However, later information was received that her doping test, which had been passed on December 25, turned out to be positive. In the ROC, they announced oddities in the case. They noted that all Valieva’s tests after December 25 were negative, including those that she had already passed in Beijing. The committee was also surprised that the result of the December 25 test came only on February 7, although the standard test procedure is 20 days. The 15-year-old athlete had to face pressure and harassment, sit for 7 hours in court before the Games.
