New regions will be integrated into the Russian football championships

The Russian Football Union and the country’s government have agreed to integrate teams from the new territories of the Russian Federation into the regular championships. This was reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 24 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

According to him, in this way the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will feel like full-fledged subjects of the Russian Federation.

“We agreed with the Russian Football Union that we will integrate new territories into our regular football championships. All this is done so that all regions feel like full-fledged Russian participants”the politician reported.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, almost 800 football players were offered to continue participating in the competition. In addition, Russia is now restoring sports facilities in new regions that have been targeted by Ukrainian militants.

“We are restoring the sports infrastructure in Mariupol – SC Azovmash, the Neptune swimming pool; in Donetsk – the Druzhba Sports Palace. The infrastructure is mostly in a deplorable state”Chernyshenko pointed out.

He expressed confidence that all sports complexes will be restored as soon as possible, as construction is currently being mobilized at a high pace.

Recall that at the end of August it became known that the Kherson stadium will be turned into an international base for football matches.

Russian special operation to protect the population of Donbass

On February 23, the heads of the DPR and LPR appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to help repel Ukraine’s aggression in order to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and civilian casualties. On February 24, the Russian leader addressed the nation and announced the start of a special operation in Ukraine to protect Donbass.

On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of the DPR, LPR, and Kherson and Zaporozhye regions signed agreements on the entry of these regions into the Russian Federation.
