The Russian Football Union and the country’s government have agreed to integrate teams from the new territories of the Russian Federation into the regular championships. This was reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 24 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
According to him, in this way the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will feel like full-fledged subjects of the Russian Federation.
“We agreed with the Russian Football Union that we will integrate new territories into our regular football championships. All this is done so that all regions feel like full-fledged Russian participants”the politician reported.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, almost 800 football players were offered to continue participating in the competition. In addition, Russia is now restoring sports facilities in new regions that have been targeted by Ukrainian militants.
“We are restoring the sports infrastructure in Mariupol – SC Azovmash, the Neptune swimming pool; in Donetsk – the Druzhba Sports Palace. The infrastructure is mostly in a deplorable state”Chernyshenko pointed out.
He expressed confidence that all sports complexes will be restored as soon as possible, as construction is currently being mobilized at a high pace.
Recall that at the end of August it became known that the Kherson stadium will be turned into an international base for football matches.
