Roy Jones led a rally in defense of the IBA and boxing outside the IOC headquarters

Boxer Roy Jones Jr led a demonstration in front of the IOC headquarters in Switzerland. The famous athlete arrived at the building in Lausanne along with boxers and trainers from six countries – the rally brought together participants from Switzerland, Germany, France, Poland, Malta and Israel.

The protesters came out in defense of the International Boxing Association (IBA) and the sport itself, which has not yet been included in the Olympic program in 2028.

Roy Jones Jr. recalled that he had addressed the IOC in a letter, but had not received a response.

“I will do my best to make my next steps heard. Boxing must stay at the Olympics and I will do everything for this. It is high time to stop injustice”– explained the athlete.

He added that the IBA deserves attention from the Olympic movement, and boxing itself should not disappear from the Olympic program.

“The exclusion of boxing from the program of the Olympic Games is simply impossible. People represent their country, for athletes this is a great opportunity. Therefore, the issue of removing boxing from the Olympic program should not even be considered, this will cause great harm to our children, those who practice boxing around the world “Jones Jr. explained during a press conference that took place in November 2022.

Recall that in February 2022, at the IOC session, it became known that the Olympics could lose boxing along with other sports. To keep the seat, the IOC required “confirm eligibility”.
