The national team of Ukraine showed the best result of the season at the Biathlon World Cup, held in France. OBOZREVATEL writes about it.

On 17 December the men’s 12.5km pursuit race was held in Annecy. Artem Prima, 35, started from the 18th position, but quickly took the lead. The Ukrainian representative made a perfect shot in the first three shots, but missed the final limit and was not among the winners. Still, Artem took 10th place, giving the national team the best result this season.

Another Ukrainian biathlete, Anton Dudchenko, took 31st place by missing once in the first three stages and twice in the last stage. Bogdan Tsimbal shot well, just like Artem Prima, but lost pace to his opponents.

It is worth noting that at the end of the race all three awards were received by the Norwegian team:

  • The Legend of Sturla (0+0+1+0) 29:44.1
  • Vete-Syastad Christiansen (0+0+0+2) 30:8.7
  • Johannes-Thingnes Bio (1+0+1+0) 30:20

On December 15, Artem Prima showed his best personal result of the season in the sprint. Thanks to his accurate shots on two lines, the athlete took the 18th place and scored 23 points. His compatriot Anton Dudchenko also showed a good result, finishing in 28th place, but the other representatives of Ukraine did not enter the scoring zone.

Recently, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia has killed 184 Ukrainian athletes since the start of a large-scale war. He called for a ban on Russian participation in international sports.

In March, Ukrainian biathlete Yevgeny Malyshev died in a battle near Kharkov. The nineteen-year-old athlete went to the army to defend his hometown from Russian invaders.
