Kurban Berdyev became the head coach of Sochi. The appointment of a 70-year-old specialist is stated in the press service of the club.
It is noted that Berdyev will take up his duties from the new year.
Kurban Berdyev twice led Rubin Kazan to the championship in 2008 and 2009, won the Russian Cup in the 2011/2012 season. Russian fans also remember how, under his leadership, Kazan beat Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
In 2016, Berdyev won silver medals together with Rostov, and in the Champions League, the team from the banks of the Don defeated Ajax and Bayern.
Leading Kairat, the specialist helped the club win the country’s Cup in 2021 and bronze medals in the championship of Kazakhstan.
Berdyev’s last job was the Iranian Traktor, where he combined the position of head coach and technical director.
