Xavi apologizes for controversial statements about Dani Alves case

FC Barcelona coach Javi Hernandez has been forced to address the alleged sexual assault case involving Dani Alves for the second time. The strategist took advantage of the press conference after the Getafe game to apologize for his statements made a few days ago.

This Sunday, after Barça’s 1-0 victory over their counterpart Getafe, DT attended the post-match speech to analyze the details of the fight and give his opinion on the situation the Brazilian is in.

“What I said was misinterpreted or I wasn’t as strong as I should have been, but it’s important that I explain myself. This is a tough and sensitive topic, yesterday I ignored the victim, but I want to make it clear that any act of gender violence or rape must be condemned, whether it is Dani or anyone else who does it, ”he stressed.

“It hurts me that Dani could do this, but in this matter you need to be very persistent. Yesterday I was not very lucky with the words and I apologize. I know that my vote is very important because I represent a club like Barca, for which I am truly sorry, it was not the most pleasant day for me, ”he added.

What did Javi say?

The Brazilian player’s arrest came last Friday after a judge decided to keep him incarcerated due to the risk of flight and inconsistencies in his testimony. On Saturday, Hernandez was asked about the situation of Alves, with whom he shared a dressing room as a player and coach.

DT said it was “difficult to comment on such a situation”. Controversy erupted on social media due to his belief that he never mentioned the intended victim and always “empathized” with the player.

“Like everyone else, I am surprised, I am in shock, in a state of “shock”. Later, that this is a matter of justice, and justice will dictate anything, we cannot enter there. I’m really sorry Dani. I am surprised at how he feels and how he was here with us. Surprised and shocked, he can’t say anything else,” these words forced Xavi to clarify this Sunday.
