A Serbian fan came to the tennis tournament wearing a “Z symbol” T-shirt, and some fans waved Russian Federation and Serbian flags and chanted “Serbia, Russia, Serbia, Russia”.

In Melbourne, pro-Russian fans took the stage again at the Australian Open tennis championship. One of the demonstrators came to the arena wearing a “Z” T-shirt, a symbol of the war against Ukraine, while other fans brought banned Russian flags at the event, one of them depicting Vladimir Putin. The Telegraph writes about it.

It was reported that some fans were waving the flags of the two countries and chanting “Serbia, Russia, Serbia, Russia”. At the same time, after Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic celebrated his victory over Russian Andrey Rublev, one of the fans removed a picture of Putin’s face on the Russian flag.

Also during the match, one of the Serbian cheerleaders at the stadium took off the white jersey bearing Djokovic’s name, revealing the black jersey with the “Z” emblem. It is also known that the Serbian athlete signed this man.

How did the Championship Security Service react?

Despite the official ban on the flags of the Russian Federation and Belarus at the tournament, the security service of the sports event did not immediately respond to such behavior of the fans. In a statement from the championship, it was stated that four people from the crowd leaving the stadium displayed “inappropriate flags and symbols” and threatened security.

“The police have intervened and continue to question. Everyone’s comfort and safety is our priority and we are working closely with security agencies and authorities,” the statement said.

Twitter users discoveredThe man in the “Z” shirt is Zoran Pavlovich, a Serb who immigrated to the United States in the 1970s. He is a musician and also a big fan of Novak Djokovic and goes to most of his matches.

Recall, on January 17, the flags of Russia and Belarus were banned at the Australian Open.
