FA launches investigation against ‘racist’ Ukrainian at Chelsea

The Football Association of England (FA) has launched an investigation into Ukrainian footballer Mykhailo Mudryk, who is accused of racism. This was reported in the publication The Athletic.

It is noted that the disciplinary case against the 22-year-old midfielder began because of the video in which he says the word “niger” 16 times. Now the federation has to decide what sanctions can be imposed on the athlete for such behavior.

On January 31, a Ukrainian footballer was at the center of a scandal over a video he posted on TikTok in July 2022. Mudrik performed the track “Freestyle” hip-hop of the performer Lil Baby, where the word “niger” is mentioned 16 times. For using racist statements, the player was also condemned by the organization Kick It Out, which is engaged in the fight against discrimination and racism in football. The representative of the midfielder had to make excuses for the incident. According to him, Mudrik regrets what happened.

On the transition of the Ukrainian to Chelsea became known on January 15. Mudrik’s contract is for 7.5 years. Shakhtar Donetsk was paid 70 million euros for the player, Chelsea can pay another 30 million as bonuses.
