Monaco Football Club has announced the extension of the contract with Russian midfielder Alexander Golovin for two additional seasons. An announcement about this was published on the club’s website on February 27.
“It is a great pleasure for me to continue my work at Monaco and I would like to thank the management of the club for the trust placed in me. I am also very pleased that I had the opportunity to stay here for a long time and continue my development,” Golovin noted.
A graduate of CSKA Moscow, Golovin took part in 113 matches in Russia and scored 13 goals, gave 11 assists. Since 2018, Golovin has played 166 matches for Monaco, scoring 23 goals and providing 32 assists. The statistics are impressive.
“Oleksandr is one of the most experienced players on our team. This extension is a testament to the club’s commitment to retaining top quality players to help achieve our goals. His dedication to work and the progress he has made over the last two seasons, especially in the physical plan, allow him to play a key role in our club,” Monaco FC sporting director Paul Mitchell added.
On January 30, Golovin and the Ukrainian midfielder of Marseille Ruslan Malinovsky hugged each other in a friendly way at the match of the French championship. At home, the Ukrainian footballer was severely criticized for a friendly gesture towards the Russian.
