Carlos “El Apache” Tevez had a great time at Manchester United in which he shared with players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and others. But the Argentine has revealed he left the club for Manchester City following a dispute with Sir Alex Ferguson.
Tevez was at United on loan from West Ham and the Red Devils did not exercise the option to buy despite the good performance of the Argentine striker. The Argentine was upset by what Ferguson told him in the 2009 pre-season.
“We are going to buy you, but I will bring Berbatov. Don’t worry, I’ll bring him in so he can compete with you and be. But now we are going to speak with your representative to agree on a contract and a pass,” Ferguson told Apache.
The season was coming to an end, and the Manchester team did not negotiate with Carlos Tevez. who received a big offer from Manchester City and decided to leave the Red Devils at the end of the season.
“I haven’t been bought yet. My representative didn’t get a call, nothing. As time went. He began to want to lower my price. I gave up every time I walked in and people started screaming my name. It was the process of eating him for a whole year, ”he analyzed.
Tevez revealed that after the 2009 Champions League final between Manchester United and Barcelona, he would leave the same day to sign for Manchester City.
“After the game was over, I kind of talked to the sheikh, he put me on a private jet, I went with my family to Abu Dhabi to meet him and settle the contract with City., all before the final with United. Ferguson told him that “the game is over and I sit down with your agent to buy you.” To which the player replied: “No, I won’t sign, I’m going to the sidewalk across the street.”
It was a blow that Tevez said Ferguson didn’t expect and didn’t want to take after being loved by the fans of the team with which he played 99 games, scoring 34 goals and assisting 14, plus 6 titles.
“It hurt a lot because I loved United. I loved playing at Old Trafford, it was like Bombonera for me, it gave me that feeling.. Then the sheikh came, they told me they wanted it to be the City flag, he presented me with a draft of what the club is today, and that’s it,” he said.
