The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) issued a warning to Russian Anastasia Potapova. The athlete entered the third round match in Indian Wells against American Jessica Pegula in a T-shirt of the Moscow football club Spartak.

According to preliminary data, the WTA considered Potapova’s actions unacceptable and inappropriate, TASS reports.

The match itself, by the way, ended with the victory of the American.

It is noteworthy that Potapova was criticized by Western fans and even the first racket of the world, Pole Iga Sventek.

Earlier, the second racket of Ukraine in doubles Oleg Prikhodko opposed the condemnation of Russian athletes.

Prikhodko noted that he performed with the Russian Yan Bondarevsky last spring, because he is his friend.

Prikhodko also expressed his attitude to the possible removal of Russian and Belarusian athletes from the Olympics in Paris. The Ukrainian pointed out that for athletes this is a dream to which they have been going all their lives. The tennis player said that sport should unite people, and now the Olympics are being turned into “a part of the war.”
