Russian Azalia Amineva lost a boxing match to Algerian transgender Iman Khilev in the 1/8 finals of the World Boxing Championship. The scandal erupted after it turned out that Khilev pretended to be a woman. This was told by the President of the International Boxing Association Umar Kremlev.
According to him, after the fights, the organizers conducted a series of DNA tests, which showed that some men pretended to be of the fairer sex in order to deceive their colleagues.
“According to the results of the tests, it was proved that they have XY chromosomes. Such athletes were excluded from the competition”– the press service of the Boxing Federation of Bashkortostan quotes the Kremlin.
Recall that the Women’s World Boxing Championship ended in New Delhi on March 26. Russian Anastasia Demurchyan won gold in the weight category up to 70 kg. Her award also turned into a scandal – the organizers mistakenly included Tchaikovsky’s First Concerto instead of the Russian anthem.
