Rally driver dies in crash while training ahead of race

Motorsport in mourning Irish pilot Craig Breen was killed this Thursday around 10:40 GMT. commands hyundai motorsortwho competed in the World Rally Championship.

According to police sources, the car crashed into a wooden pole with the left side of the front end and the pilot died instantly. The accident occurred on the section of the highway between Lobor and Stary Golubovac.

Craig Breen, 33, he was not alone during the accident, but He was accompanied by his partner, James Fulton, who escaped unharmed.

Both his team and the World Rally Championship (WRC) mourned the loss and expressed their condolences to the rider’s loved ones.

“The WRC family is devastated by the passing of Craig Breen. Our thoughts and condolences are with Craig’s family and friends. at this incredibly sad moment” can be read on the official WRC Twitter account, in a post where they relaunched Hyundai Motorsport’s statement.

Who was Craig Breen?

Craig Breen started his career as a professional racing driver in 2009 and became WRC Academy Champion in 2011 with Ford.

Brin has competed in both the World Rally Championship and the European Championship. In July last year, he became the first leader of the Estonian Rally, the seventh round of the World Championship.

In the 2022 Croatian Rally, he finished fourth, and at the end of the season was seventh in the World Cup standings.
