Andrey Rublev won the Masters tournament in Monte Carlo

Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev defeated Dane Holger Rune in the final of the clay tournament of the Masters series in Monte Carlo. For the 25-year-old athlete, this is the first victory in the ATP-1000 tournament, Sport-Express reports.

The final was held on April 16 with a score of 5:7, 6:2, 7:5. The match lasted 2 hours and 34 minutes.

Rublev has already made it to the Masters final twice before. Also, the Russian tennis player currently has 13 trophies in tournaments of the Association of Tennis Professionals and the first this season. The victory in Monte Carlo helped Rublev become the fifth racket of the world.

The Masters winning fund on clay court amounted to 5.8 million euros.

Earlier, Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev took gold in the ATP-250 tournament in Doha. In the final, he fought with Briton Andy Murray.
