Russian figure skater of Italian origin Dario Chirisano said that he did not want to leave Russia and was glad to return to the country.

“From a distance, I completely felt that my home was in Russia. I had no desire to leave the country and was not chasing international tournaments,” – he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Chirisano also commented on his dance duet with figure skater Elizaveta Pasechnik, noting that together they are starting a new path. He did not find the lack of international competitions daunting.

“There are many strong couples in Russia, and if you can withstand internal competition, then you are no longer afraid of any tournaments,” – added the 22-year-old athlete.

Chirisano is the 2020 Youth Olympic Champion and the 2022 Russian Junior Champion. Previously, he performed with figure skater Irina Khavronina, but the couple broke up in January 2023. He later trained with Czech figure skater Denisa Cimlova in Italy. After the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) refused to change his sports citizenship, the figure skater returned to Russia.
