MotoGP, Bagnaia wins in Jerez. Great duel with Marquez April 29, 2024 3

Pecco Bagnaia returns to the top step of the MotoGP podium with victory in Jerez after a duel at the last braking point with Mark Marquez. After two anonymous weekends, the world champion returns to the starting position with a sensational victory that is worth a lot. On the one hand, he managed to keep the wild Marquez behind him, and on the other – significantly reduce the gap in world rankings thanks to The Fall of Jorge Martin. Now the Italian pilot has been found 17 points on top rating. Third place went to Marco Bezzecchi.

At the start, Pecco had a great start from the third row, so much so that at the first braking point he was already fourth. Soon the Italian noticed Martin, immediately sensing that he had something more. With 15 laps to go, Martin overbraked at turn six and lost his front end. It is very difficult for a Spaniard to leave the world stage.

Thus, Banyaya was ahead with a slight advantage over his pursuers by about a second. At this point, Marquez tries to change the pace, and, having overtaken Bezzecchi, he begins to gain ground from the world champion with fast laps, and with 6 laps to go the reunion comes. But the Piedmontese from Borgo Panigale were not too worried about the arrival of the Spaniard. The last laps are a real show, the audience applauds and thanks for the emotions that the two racers were able to give.

For Banaia it was one of his best wins in MotoGP and there is a feeling that we will see more challenges with Marquez this season. At the foot of the podium is Alex Marquez. Enea Bastianini finishes fifth and, taking advantage of Martin’s fall, remains close to the World Championship leader, 22 points behind. Sixth Brad Binder on KTM. Only ninth was Viñales with his Aprilia. Acosta finishes tenth and Mir twelfth.

Next meeting in France, May 12.
