The girls planned to have fun in the French capital. Each of them represented their country in different sports: Lea Schuller – Germany and Lara Wadlau – Austria.
German footballer Lea Schuller and Austrian yachtsman Lara Wadlau were in a relationship ahead of the 2024 Olympics and regularly spoke about their love and shared moments from their lives together on social media. The Daily Mail reported that the two athletes unexpectedly split during the Olympics in Paris.
The couple had hoped to spend some time together in the French capital but things appeared to go awry during the competition.
Wadlau told reporters the relationship was over but said he remained on good terms with his ex.
“Leigh is no longer my partner. Of course I’m very proud of her and we’re still very good friends and I have hope for her,” he said.
There are still many photos of them together on their social media accounts.
Ahead of the 2024 Olympics, Schuller excitedly admitted that she would be heading to the Games with her other half, despite them competing for different countries.
“It’s great that we both went to Paris. Maybe we’ll meet again a few times. We rarely see each other, only 100 days a year, because Lara is away a lot and working hard in preparation for the Games,” he said ahead of the Paris trip.
Schuller, 26, began her playing career at Hulser SV before joining SGS Essen in 2012. She made her debut in the Women’s Bundesliga at the age of 16 and went on to make over 100 appearances for the club before joining Bayern in 2020. Currently a regular for the German national and international teams, she has scored 57 goals in 85 appearances for her club and 45 goals in 66 appearances for her country.
Meanwhile, Wadlau won his first gold medal in mixed dinghy sailing with partner Lukas Maher on Thursday, August 8. He has been participating in the Olympic Games since 2012.
Previously on August 7 Focus She wrote that a French athlete proposed to her boyfriend at the Olympics in Paris.
