Ukrainian track and field athletes, led by high jumper Yaroslava Maguchikh, earned more than $137,000 in prize money during the season of the largest commercial competition, the Diamond League. RBC-Ukraine writes about this.
The Diamond League is organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations and provides fixed fees to participants who finish in the top 8 in each stage. Athletes compete seven times in each type of program and earn points according to the results of each meeting. Points are doubled in the final.
Yaroslava Maguchikh showed the most successful performance throughout the year. The 2024 season high jump champion was awarded $ 70 thousand. Her colleague Irina Gerashchenko took second place but earned $ 22 thousand. Oleg Doroshchuk, who earned 19 thousand, completed the top three.
Prize money given to Ukrainian athletes in the 2024 Diamond League season:

- Marina Bekh-Romanchuk (triple jump) – 3.5 thousand;
- Yulia Levchenko (high jump) – 1 thousand.
In total, 8 Ukrainian athletes received prize money. Last year there were 11, and together they earned more than $162 thousand.
Yaroslava Maguchikh became the winner of the Diamond League in 2022 and 2023.
