Opel decided to revive GSe mark that have been defined in the past his sports cars. However, this brand will be redesigned in a modern way and merged with the manufacturer’s electrification project. As you know, by 2024, the automaker intends to offer an electrified version of every model in the lineup, and by 2028 to become an all-electric brand in Europe.
Previously, the abbreviation GSe meant “Grand Sport Einspritzung“.Now, the truth will be short”Grand Sport Electric“. Florian HuttleOpel CEO said:
I am very excited to announce the return of GSe in the near future as our top sports brand. Once again, we have taken inspiration from our history – as we did with the “bold and clean” design, which was positively received by all specialized critics – and added a touch of modernity to it. In the future, the GSe brand will not only stand for sports cars and driving pleasure, but also short for “Grand Sport electric” in line with our ambitious plans to become an all-electric brand.
The automaker adds that all future GSe models will have a chassis tuned for maximum driving pleasure. Curiosity, the new GSe brand has already appeared a few months ago on the Opel Manta GSe ElektroMOD, an electric restomod based on the Manta that we have talked about several times.
Like all Opel models, the GSe range will be “autobahn resistant” thanks to extensive testing carried out on German motorways.
Therefore, all that remains is to wait for news to understand exactly which electric vehicles will be the first to have this new sports brand. It is possible that in the beginning it was also used for some high-performance plug-in models.
