Volvo EX90, new electric SUV, will focus on safety September 22, 2022 10

Volvo EX90 – new electric SUV which should become the new flagship of the automaker. The model that will be officially presented on November 9, 2022. The manufacturer does not yet want to share details about the characteristics or photos of this new car. However, by announcing the date of the presentation, he wanted to emphasize how the Volvo EX90 will pay great attention to the safety aspect so much so that it will adopt safety standards never seen before in Volvo.

So, for the automaker Volvo EX90 represents a turning point, the beginning of a new era. The car was created to keep passengers safe while traveling and to constantly improve this level of safety through constant updates that will be released.

SAFETY FIRST

Volvo says the development of the new safety technology is based on a deep understanding of human behavior, based on decades of research.

Each of us has probably been in at least one traffic accident in our lives. This is not a judgment: we know that in most cases the driver is experienced, attentive and ready to act if necessary. But we are all human, and that also means that we feel emotions. We know that distraction and fatigue are part of life and travel with us. We know that you are not always at your best for one reason or another. And in traffic, it only takes a few seconds for the unthinkable to happen.

Thus, the goal of the automaker is to achieve reduce the risk of accidents. To do this, the new Volvo EX90 will be equipped with what the manufacturer has defined as “one”.invisible protective shield“in which the latest sensor technology is integrated, thanks to which the car is able to understand the mood of the driver and the surrounding context.

SENSORS EVERYWHERE

To do this, the car will have many sensors, both external and internal. Starting outside, we find cameras, radar and LiDAR (it can detect pedestrians up to 250 meters away and dark objects like tires up to 120 meters in front of the car), all controlled by a software platform. All these elements interact to create a 360-degree vision of the surrounding reality in real time.

Our LiDAR system determines the path ahead of the vehicle both day and night, even at high speeds. It can see small objects hundreds of meters away, giving you more time to learn, act and avoid.

Inside the cabinInstead, there will be special sensors and cameras that will be controlled by an algorithm developed by Volvo. Thus, it will be possible to determine the concentration of the driver’s gaze. This technology allows the EX90 to understand when the driver is distracted, tired or otherwise inattentive, more than has been possible in a Volvo car so far.

In case of problems, the system will warn the driver more insistently. And if the driver even falls asleep or feels unwell, the car is designed to safely stop moving and call for help.

Therefore, very interesting information. Volvo says it will share more details about the model ahead of the EX90 presentation.
