PlayStation has introduced Stars, a new loyalty program that will allow brand users to receive additional benefits. The company indicated that the new service will be available in the US from October 5the date it will also arrive in South America.
According to PlayStation, the loyalty program will allow fans to earn points and digital collectibles in exchange for games and trophies. They also announced that the loyalty program is a completely free service with the only requirement being an adult PlayStation Network account.
They specified that While this is a free benefit, having paid services such as a PlayStation Plus membership will allow you to enjoy some additional benefits.However, you do not need to be a PlayStation Plus member to participate in the loyalty program.
“Joining PlayStation Stars is free. You will only need to have an adult PlayStation Network account and accept the program’s terms of service. While a PlayStation Plus subscription gives you certain benefits, a PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to join PlayStation Stars.
They emphasized that to access all Stars features, users need to download the PlayStation app., which is available for both Android and iOS devices. They added that the company plans to launch on consoles in the near future.
“With PlayStation Stars, you earn rewards by completing various campaigns and activities. Our “Register Monthly” campaign simply requires you to play any game in order to receive the reward. Other campaigns will challenge you to win specific trophies or even be one of the first players to get platinum on a blockbuster in your country or region.
They add that points earned by users can be redeemed for funds in your PSN wallet. For those with a Plus membership, for every purchase they make on the PlayStation Store, they automatically earn points.
“These digital collectibles are created specifically for our loyalty program and while some of them may be rare, they are not unique and do not take advantage of blockchain technology.. They cannot be resold or exchanged. Digital collectibles can only be earned or purchased through PlayStation Stars.
