Audi develops its logo. Debut on Q8 e-tron November 15, 2022 20

On the new Audi Q8 e-tron, which we recently talked about, he debuted also a new logo brand. With the advent of electromobility, several manufacturers have decided to change their logo to better reflect the transition to new mobility. Now the German manufacturer is also adding to this list by developing the design of its famous four-ring logo.

LOGO EVOLUTION

No revolution, however, remain 4 rings with a two-dimensional effect, introduced in 2016 as “a consequence of digitalization, mainly in order to adapt them to the dominant communication system“.

Three-dimensionality on two-dimensional displays would not satisfy our technical and aesthetic requirements. Therefore, we chose the 2D view.

Audi designer Andre Giorgi says than using a two-dimensional logo on the outside of vehicles was first offered in 2019. The process of evolution accelerated at the beginning of 2020. The goal was to extend brand identity from the digital realm to vehicles by standardizing their “identification”. In the future, the developer wants that the four rings have the same arrangement throughout: in the press, on a smartphone display, on a billboard, in a car or in a salon.

Speaking about the new logo that debuted on the new electric SUV, Georgi explains that consists of three elements and it’s strict no chrome, with high contrast black and white image. The white rings are housed in a black glass case for even more brilliance. Illuminating the logo, the white color gives the rings a flat, premium look. The new logo is not only in appearance, but also in materials.

The current chrome rings mean high quality. The material conveys this message. However, we believe we have found the “new chrome”: the radiance of the black and white rings makes the Brand’s identity unmistakable. The thin black piping around the rings gives it a solid, premium look, regardless of the paint color or single frame tint. The new rings are also available in matching black. This variation replaces the white color with a dark gray tone reminiscent of glossy black.

Audi adds that vehicle identification is a very important aspect for a premium brand. To do this, in addition to the Audi logo has also changed the caption to make it more uniform across all vehicles. In the future, all Audi models will only use a proprietary font known as “Audi Type”, which provides more discreet, crisper and cleaner graphics.

As with the Q8 e-tron, Audi chose the B-pillar as the place to enter the model name. The choice is reinforced by the fact that this area is always in view of passengers when they enter the cabin. The inscription is deliberately engraved tone on tone.
