“Highlight”: AP journalists told how engineers returned mobile communications to Ukrainians

According to one of the engineers, they always have to make sure their communication towers are working. There is a special mobile application for this.

Engineers have been working around the clock to maintain mobile phone lines in Ukraine during the war with Russia. This was written by the Associated Press.

According to journalists, “an entire army” of engineers from various telephone companies was mobilized to eliminate the consequences of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

According to Yuriy Dugnist, an employee of one of the telephone companies in Ukraine, all his colleagues were very tired. But they have a strong motivation because everyone understands that they are doing something important.

Dugnist and his colleagues told reporters about their new daily routine, which involves using an app on their phone to check which of the dozens of telephone towers in the Kyiv area is receiving electricity.

According to engineers, many towers are now powered by diesel generators. They were placed at the bottom of the towers even before a full-scale invasion began.

Dugnist also said that when the Russian invaders left Irpin in the spring, he was one of those who rushed to restore communications in the Kyiv region.

Earlier, the Financial Times reported that Starlink prices in Ukraine have almost doubled due to problems with mobile networks. Journalists noted that during SpaceX’s negotiations with the US Department of Defense in October, the company asked Washington to pay Ukraine $4,500 a month for each terminal.

Focus also wrote that Klitschko has published a list of shops and malls that will operate without electricity. According to the mayor, retail stores will continue to operate with autonomous power supplies.

We also remember that the Deputy Prime Minister said that 145,000 generators were imported to Ukraine in a week. According to Yulia Sviridenko, satellite internet terminals may be included in the list of preferential goods in the future. The government promises to investigate this matter immediately.
