Acoustic sensors will soon appear in the Kyiv region and will detect Russian drones and missiles even in hard-to-reach areas. This was announced by the chief of police of the Kyiv region, Andrey Nebytov, in an interview with the media “My Kievshchina”.
“With regard to acoustic sensors, it was decided, if possible, to equip critical infrastructure facilities with appropriate sensors that could collect acoustic information and transmit it in time for the intervention of air defense units,” Nebytov said.
According to the district police chief, the acoustic sensor system was used for the first time in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. He has proven himself well. The sensors allowed the military and self-defense forces to analyze the movement of Russian equipment and detect saboteurs.
Nebytov emphasized that the sensors will collect additional information and transmit it to the air defense. Thus, they will be able to obtain information about enemy missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles even from places where no one is present.
He added that the sensors will be installed as part of the Safe Kyiv Zone program, which has been allocated UAH 77 million.
Recall that in mid-December 2022, it is known that special detection cameras will be installed in Ukrainian power plants. They will be able to detect the approach of a drone or missile and inform air defense forces about it.
