“Fight mosquitoes”: why are Ukrainian kamikaze drones successfully attacking targets in the Russian Federation?

According to Yuri Kasyanov, UAVs cope with combat tasks thanks to “primitive” technologies and small dimensions.

Ukrainian drones managed to attack the deep rear of Russia. We are talking about an attack on an airspace in the city of Engels (Saratov region), Diaghilevo (Ryazan), Sevastopol, as well as on military installations and infrastructure in the Kursk, Bryansk and Rostov regions. However, so far Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for these attacks. Employee of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuri Kasyanov talked about what UAVs can be in an interview with Tatyana Zarovnaya, the founder of the A.Drones project.

According to Kasyanov, attacks on the above targets were carried out by various unmanned aerial vehicles created by various groups of engineers and designers with the help of volunteers, the military, businessmen and even government officials. Underlining that Ukroboronprom has nothing to do with any of the drones attacking targets behind Russian lines, the speaker added that foreign partners are involved in projects that provide high-tech equipment to the teams for bilateral and military purposes.

“These are autopilots, these are scarce motors, batteries, servos… They’re scarce, not because they’re scarce, but because they’re expensive and aren’t sold to everyone,” Yuri explained.

The speaker complained for a long time that bilateral and military technologies were not sold to Ukraine, but now, during the war, our experts have access to them.

Strangely enough, Yuri said that attack aircraft, created on the basis of “primitive” technologies, enjoyed great success. It also has some advantages over state-of-the-art UAVs. For example, their dimensions are much smaller than Iranian drones or cruise missiles of the Russian Federation, therefore, as Kasyanov noted, radars do not always notice Ukrainian UAVs and, accordingly, do not jam with electronic warfare.

“They are completely invisible, like fighting mosquitoes,” Yuri said. Who said that? Danilov, in my opinion, said that we “fighted with mosquitoes,” a large number of them, Yuri added.

In an interview with Zarovna, he also said that today in Ukraine very inexpensive kamikaze drones are created for the Armed Forces, which are more profitable for the RF Armed Forces than Shahed.

“There are successful projects where drones worth $3,000, $4,000, $5,000 have been produced, and it’s very cheap, much cheaper than Iranian Shaheds, and these drones are in no way inferior to Shaheds,” Kasyanov said.

We previously reported that a Ukrainian operator was able to accurately hit a target with a kamikaze UAV after the video transmission from the drone was interrupted.
