Skoda Enyaq RS iV: Plug & Charge Test by IONITY | Video 02 January 2023 70

The Skoda Enyaq RS iV is the top-of-the-line electric SUV built on the Volkswagen MEB platform, now updated to ME 3.2, which improves power consumption and updates various software features, including the Plug & Charge charging function that allows you to charge the car. a car like a Tesla, connecting directly to the speaker (we tried it on the Ionity) without the need for cards or apps.

You’ll have to wait until 2023 to get it, with orders scheduled to open in March 2023 with deliveries starting in the following months. The Enyaq range has actually been available for some time, so much so that Skoda has already sold 90,000 units, but we need to clarify why this version is not yet available: the manufacturer released the regular Enyaq (in April 2021 we tried a top from the non-RS range). » version, rear-wheel drive Enyaq 80 iV), then the RS iV debuted with the Coupé model (this was in March 2022) and only in 2023 will the RS iV SUV version appear, therefore with a traditional rear end.

WHAT ENYAQ RS iV DOES

So when we talk about RS, there are two options: do you want a coupe? It’s called the Skoda Enyaq Coupé RS iV. Do you want an SUV? His name is Enyaq RS iV. With the exception of the rear, the car is always the same, but the RS is the only one in the range that allows for maximum power (220 kW, 299 hp) and top speed (180 km/h vs 169 km/h). h. iV 80x 4×4) for 0-100 s 6.5 s. The trunk also changes, but only slightly, because the coupe has already made very good use of the space. The SUV has 15 liters more in 5-seat configuration and 100 liters more when the rear seat is folded down.

The Enyaq RS is only available in an all-wheel drive version, it has two motors but is more powerful than the 80x and the torque is increased to 460Nm. The other big difference is that an RS version is available. only with battery 77 kWh and the setting is almost complete option.

Even though the Enyaq RS is the sports car of the line, it remains a very manageable car, one where torque delivery is instant and power is linear, no exaggeration, like a Model Y Dual Motor or, so to speak, EV 6 GT. . This means there will be no injury and no risk to the less experienced, yet they will be able to enjoy a vehicle that has horses that can be unleashed when needed so as not to have to worry about overtaking that otherwise occurs when working with vehicle. which weighs a lot and has little power.

HOW ARE YOU?

It’s still an SUV, but it drives well. It fits perfectly into the category of modern off-road vehicles with well-chosen settings, platforms that are now completely different from the “off-road” chassis of the past. With a high level of electronic sophistication, they manage to be pleasant, manageable even in corners, and dynamically satisfying despite having the space and usability that sedans dream of.

Miracles do not happen, physics always remains the same, but as we approach the gates of 2023, we must come to terms with some aspects. First, SUVs/crossovers have become the new normal for a variety of reasons that need not be repeated, those who drive and use them know this. Second, today even SUVs/crossovers deliver a driving pleasure acceptable to most drivers: there’s the Macan and the Stelvio playing in a league of their own, then we find cars like the Enyaq iV RS and their counterparts (electric or thermal), which are well balanced and brilliantly promoted (it’s hard to completely mess up a car with modern technology),

Finally, in order to find a rejection, you must go to the world of ultra-low cost or the Chinese, where the key to understanding is “the price is so low that it is able to force me to get past the obvious disadvantages in order to have a car of a size that suits me, they are for family and luggage ?

This digression serves to try to convey the idea that now, when evaluating the dynamics of the movement of a car, especially an electric one, you need to work with nuances. Model Y, for example, was a very pleasant surprise, but, as you can see in this test, it wins in dynamics, but loses in other aspects.

The rest cannot be confirmed.excellent capacity, thoughtfulness of cargo compartments, spaciousness in the trunk. The Enyaq is one of the best in its class, if not the best among devices of comparable size.

With the ME3.2 software update, there have been interesting improvements to the infotainment interface, but we know these are OTA updates that also affect other vehicle functions. If on the autonomy side I could not notice any differences, they will need to be checked on the test path with additional tests, instead it is clear the convenience of being able to use Plug&Charge which I tried at the IONITY station.

Plug it in and you’re done: like Tesla… or almost. Because if Tesla starts charging instantly, then the Enyaq system with IONITY takes about twenty seconds in communication between the car and the speaker and also asks me for a ride and a couple of confirmations on the speaker’s touchscreen.
