Kia EV9, new electric SUV to debut in the first half of 2023 January 03, 2023 6

Debut time new Kia EV9 electric SUV. Hyundai Group, during a meeting held at the Namyang Research and Development Center in South Korea, confirmed that this new model will be presented in the first half of 2023. A few months ago, there was talk of a debut in the first quarter of 2023. Therefore, it seems that there should not be any special delays in the presentation of this model, which is very important for the growth strategy of the Korean manufacturer.

This means that more news about this battery-powered model should be out soon. In addition, another interesting aspect: at launch, the new Kia EV9 will be the first model of the Korean brand with Highway Driving Pilot System which allows Level 3 autonomous driving to be used on highways. Obviously, it can only be used in countries where Level 3 autonomous driving is allowed.

Therefore, it remains only to wait for the exact date of the presentation of the new Kia EV9.

WHAT DO WE KNOW?

At the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Korean manufacturer unveiled the Kia Concept EV9, a concept vehicle that anticipated the content of the upcoming production model. A few months later, spy photos emerged and some information shared by the car manufacturer. We know that the new electric SUV will be based on the E-GMP platform and that it will offer plenty of space inside. In fact, it will contain up to 7 passengers.

Measures The concept was 4930 mm long, 2055 mm wide and 1790 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3100 mm. Obviously, compared to the concept, the production car will have some more classic stylistic solutions. For example, there will be no rear doors that open into the wind.

As far as powertrains go, Kia doesn’t want to foresee anything just yet. Speaking about the concept, the manufacturer limited himself to a statement that the SUV will be able to count on a power reserve of up to about 480 km, and it will be possible to charge the battery from 10% to 80% in 20-30 minutes. Most likely, Kia EV9 will rely on same power units what we find today on the Kia EV6, which we have already had the opportunity to test.
