A very difficult year is coming to an end for the Italian car market. Last month of 2022 ends, however, growth 21%. According to data released by UNRAE, there were 104,915 new registrations registered against 86,717 pcs. in December 2021. However, despite the constant growth of recent months, the Italian car market ends all of 2022 with a 9.7% drop. We are talking about 1,316,702 registered cars, which is more than 141,000 cars less than in 2021. The year doesn’t end too far, stresses UNRAE, from an all-time low registered back in 2013 (registered 1,304,500 units).

We ask the government to give a clear indication of the adoption of new technologies, and in the meantime, to maintain and increase the incentives to purchase for fleet renewal, at least until 2026 for individuals and companies that provide for the elimination or at least an increase in price thresholds. Equally urgent is the development of an infrastructure policy for recharging electric vehicles and hydrogen fuels, as well as a structural review of the taxation of the sector, with the possibility of deducting VAT and deducting costs based on CO2 emissions for company cars.
Returning to the data for the last month of 2022, on the user side, private individuals receive a market share of 52.8%. On the other hand, self-registrations closed at 8.9%. Long-term rentals are doing well, with a market share of 28.7% in December 2022. Instead, short-term rentals can only count on a market share of 2.5% in December. Companies receive a market share of 7%.
Coming to the ribbons gasoline and diesel they received respectively 25.5% and 20.5% of the December market. As usual, hybrids (HEVs) performed very well, ending the last month of 2022 with a share of 34.6% (10.3% for full hybrids and 24.3% for mild hybrids). LPG ends the last month of the year with 9.5% preference. Natural gas stops at 0.5% of the market.
In the month that has just ended, electrical closed at 4.3%, in flexion compared to the same period in 2021 (7%). With regard to Plugins, in the last month of 2022 they receive a share of 5.1% (6.4% in 2021). Suitable for Automotive groups, Stellantis is up 3.49%. Volkswagen Group showed very good results, +30.74%. The Renault Group is also growing, ending December 2022 with a rise of 8.69%.
Also of note are +32.52% Toyota Group, +29.72% Ford, +16.73% BMW Group and +47.51% Daimler Group. An increase of 79.25% for Kia and 33.53% for Hyundai.
