Delta frequent flyers get free onboard Wi-Fi from February

Delta and T-Mobile announced that they will start offering Completely free Wi-Fi for all those passengers who are members of the SkyMiles program or travel frequently..

This new service fills a gap that has existed for many users because while T-Mobile currently offers free Wi-Fi on Delta flights, it is only available to people who have a contract with an operator. However, from now on, everyone can use this advantage, regardless of which company they subscribe to.

According to Delta, First, free Wi-Fi will be available on the airline’s domestic flights. and hope to be able to offer it on about 700 aircraft by the end of the year. It is planned that with the onset of 2024 they will be able to expand coverage to international flights. which will further increase the number of users using free Internet access.

They pointed out that in order to use the Internet connection, users need to have a free SkyMiles number, which can be obtained by enrolling in the Delta frequent flyer program.

Kevin McLaughlin, senior vice president of T-Mobile, said that the service will not have a session limit and will work in the Viasat network.

Although the WiFi service will be free, everything indicates that the operator will implement an advertising system that will force passengers who wish to connect to the network to see a certain amount of advertising before accessing the Internet. Thus, the company provides a mechanism for monetizing the service and distributing advertising to a larger number of users.

T-Mobile’s announcement comes after Last June, the operator launched Coverage Beyond, a package of services that provides benefits to its users.. Among them, the opportunity to have access to high-speed data in more than 210 countries of the world stands out. At the time, the company clarified that these benefits would be reserved for Magenta Max and Business Unlimited Ultimate plan subscribers.

Coverage In addition to coverage, airlines such as American Airlines, Delta, Alaska and United are included., so the number of users who used this free Wi-Fi service was significant. It is worth noting that in addition to all this, passengers could also enjoy free streams during flights.
