French startup Qarnot has raised €35 million in funding.
DCD announced the close of a €35 million funding round of digital boiler startup Qarnot (France). This will allow the company to hire 50 more employees who will contribute to the development of innovative technology that allows the permanent use of excess heat from the servers.
Qarnot has been on the market since 2010 and offers special “digital” boilers that are powered by the heat emitted by the servers of data centers (data processing centres). Often this energy is simply dissipated into the environment and high temperatures in data center rooms are a major concern for server owners.
Qarnot is busy not letting energy go to waste. The company saves server rooms from high temperatures thanks to its devices. The resulting heat is sold to consumers. Qar not only heats residential areas, but also aims to establish itself in the heating segment of large commercial buildings.
The company says it has installed more than 100 QBx digital boiler equipment at 25 sites in France and Finland. The company also plans to install QBx boilers in other European countries. They will allow you to heat the water to temperatures above 60°C.
“We aim to prove that high technology can be combined with environmental awareness and digital sovereignty,” Paul Benoist, CEO and co-founder of Qarnot, told reporters.
