Suzuki, electric Jimny arrives in Europe January 28, 2023 1

Suzuki unveiled its new industrial plan announcing the investment for 4.5 trillion yeni.e. about 32 billion euros until fiscal year 2030. As we have seen, the Japanese automaker also announced the launch 17 new electric models always on that date. Namely 6 in Japan, 6 in India and 5 and in Europe.

The interesting news is that business plan presentation slides appeared shortly after. In some of them, the Japanese brand has included “silhouettes” of future electric models that will hit the market in the coming years.

As for the slide dedicated to the European market, a detail immediately catches the eye. Indeed, among the battery models that will be presented for the debut there are also Jimny. There is no technical information, and we don’t even know when it will hit the market, but it looks like the future of the small SUV is electric. We will certainly find out more over the next few months, but once the 5-door version of the Jimny is launched, things will still evolve.

As for the other battery-powered models shown on the slide, one of them is an A-segment vehicle with similar dimensions to Japanese Kei vehicles. The other 3, on the other hand, look like crossovers/SUVs. One of them could be a production version of the concept recently shown by Suzuki. In time, there will still be a way to find out. Suzuki, as we recall, wants electric vehicles to make up 80% of its European model range by 2030.

Of the 4.5 trillion yen that will be invested, 2 (14 billion euros) will be used for projects related to electrification (including batteries). A plan to help Suzuki take new steps forward for become carbon neutral in Japan and Europe by 2050 and in India by 2070.
