BMW Not Interested In Offering Pickups January 31, 2023 4

Pickups are becoming more and more popular, especially in some markets. Various car manufacturers are looking at this segment with growing interest, especially electrification. We’ve seen several new models hit the market lately, and many more have already been announced. With the presentation of the Audi Activesphere concept, which can “turn” into a pickup of sorts, one wonders whether these vehicles will be increasingly present in the future.

Apparently so far bmw not interested offer your pickup. Adrian van HooydonkThe German automaker’s head of design, speaking to the BMW blog, was clear on the matter.

Not an obvious choice for a BMW. We don’t have to follow every new trend. If we get into a segment, we want to get into it for a long time. What I see and find interesting is that during COVID people want to spend more time outdoors.

In any case, Adrian van Hooydonk admits that pickups have evolved in recent years and become more and more interesting.

But the most interesting thing is that the pickup truck is becoming more and more sophisticated. Electric models appear. Naturally, prices are rising. They have also become more refined.

However, while today’s pickup trucks have improved a lot, that doesn’t justify BMW’s entry into this segment. The position of BMW’s chief designer doesn’t seem like a definitive rejection, but it’s clear that the German brand isn’t considering these models in its growth plans at the moment.

Actually BMW already explored this segment in the past, albeit with one-time projects. In 2019, for example, the conversion was shown in SUV BMW X7 pickup.
