Google has introduced its new artificial intelligence (AI) to Bard with an experimental language model similar to that of ChatGPT.system created by OpenAI.
The presentation of the new chatbot was made by Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet, during an event called “The Next Big Step on the Road to AI.”
Google’s commitment to AI development is nothing new, as Pichai himself explained, since the company has been investing heavily in this type of technology for more than 6 years in order to stay ahead of the competition.
An example of such a development was LaMDA. an AI system that had been in testing for months.
The name of this system is not completely unknown due to the fact that a few months ago one of the Google engineers in charge of developing and testing LaMDA said the AI has become self-aware and therefore should not be regarded as a simple machine. However, Google soon denied all these claims and fired the employee for leaking company confidential information.
What can Bard do?
According to information provided by Google CEO Bardwill be able to connect to the Internet to search for information requested by usersand then analyze it and offer it in the best possible way.
This means a big difference right from the start with regards to ChatGPT, because the latter only has information that was available online until the end of 2021.
In practice, this means that the answers provided by Bard should be much more complete and accurate than the answers displayed by the OpenAI chatbot..
“Bard takes information from the internet and uses it to provide quality and relevant answers,” Pichai said.
Another element to consider is that, according to what could be seen in the presentation, response time will be much shorter than offered by OpenAI. This is not surprising, since it is much easier for a company like Google to have more servers and processing power than any other company in the market.
