Public monitoring network EcoCity has launched a Radiation and Smoke Alert chatbot reporting a dangerous increase in radiation levels and chemical hazards. Oleksiy Trelevsky, the founder of the project and technical specialist of the program “Clean Air of Ukraine”, told the First Krivorozhsky TV channel the details.
The chatbot sends alerts to subscribers if the average radiation hazard level rises to 30 microR/hour in the last 10 minutes. As Aleksey Trelevsky explains, the system receives data from monitoring stations chosen by Ukrainians themselves. The algorithm was developed on the basis of the Ukrainian air quality index, it takes into account many parameters and variables: how close the measuring stations are to the user, whether they are operational, what pollutants they capture, how old they are. equipment is installed there.
“What is new is the consideration of the impact of pollution on various vulnerable categories of the population,” said the project representative.
Instructions for using the Radiation and Smoke Alarm chatbot
- Open the chatbot in Telegram messenger and click the “Start” button;
- Click on the “Subscribe to a station” button so that the chatbot automatically selects the one closest to the geographical location of the smartphone;
- If desired, connect to other nearby stations by selecting them from the “Nearby stations” list;
- View all connected stations by clicking the “My Stations” button;
- If problems arise, click the “Support” button and select the appropriate option, for example, “Write to administrator”.
- Note that some options will require you to open the Radiation & Smoke Alert web app in a browser.
The popular Air Alert app also sends chemical and radiation alerts. Developer Ajax Systems added such an option back in August 2022, but only reports official announcements from authorities.
