Ukrainians will not pay for roaming while in the EU: what tariffs are provided?

Soon, Ukrainian refugees abroad will be able to pay for mobile communications and Internet services according to the local tariffs of European countries.

The Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine reported that our country has taken the penultimate step towards signing a long-term agreement “abroad – at home”. Today, the Commission adopted a proposal to add a provision on mobility to the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

Thanks to this cooperation between countries, when traveling or arriving in EU countries, Ukrainians will not need a SIM card of local operators to save money in their account, since they will be part of the same roaming zone, which means that they will pay at the usual tariffs of local operators for mobile communication and Internet. Europeans coming to Ukraine will have the same opportunity.

Currently, this type of roaming is a voluntary initiative of Ukrainian mobile operators, but very soon it will acquire a full legal framework and will become mandatory.

The inclusion of Ukraine in the European “home” circulation is one of the steps to deepen the free trade area between Ukraine and the EU and the subsequent integration of Ukraine into the EU Single Market. This is the first extension of the EU internal market regime in Ukraine.

Today’s resolution is the penultimate step towards unified roaming organization. Also, the proposal will be evaluated by the Council of the European Union, and then states and telecom operators will implement it. In other words, all that remains is to wait for the bureaucratic process to end and the service will start working.

Previously Focus He wrote that the Europeans will not delay such an initiative and that Ukraine will certainly be a “circulating part” of the EU this year.
