The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine turned off the Internet in the occupied territory of the Russians Lugansk region

The invaders use controlled mobile operators to deny Ukrainians access to information about the conflict.

Mobile operators began to turn off the Internet for Ukrainians in the occupied part of the Lugansk region. This was reported on Facebook by the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on February 24.

In some occupied areas, people have already lost access to the internet, and soon the Russians are planning to shut down the internet in all temporarily occupied areas of the Luhansk region. As the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine explained, in this way the invaders are trying to fight the Ukrainian patriots and at the same time deprive the public of access to information about the actions of the Russian troops.

On February 11, the head of the Luhansk regional military administration, Sergei Gaidai, said that the mobile operator MKS has already turned off the Internet in all occupied regions of the region. Ukrainians cannot connect to the World Wide Web, but have to pay the same subscription fee as before, despite the interruption of the service. Local residents say mobile internet has been unavailable in some areas since last summer.

As the head of the OVA explained, in this way the Russians are trying to stop information leaks and prevent Ukrainian troops from locating objects via the mobile network, including barracks, hospitals and warehouses. Earlier, information emerged that the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed the Russian base in Makeevka, thanks to mobile phones. According to experts, the military can determine the accumulation of enemy subscribers in the network and launch an artillery attack on it.

However, the spokesman for the Eastern Forces Group, Sergei Cherevaty, denied that the base in Makeevka was attacked by mobile phones, according to him, this was primarily possible due to the good intelligence of the Ukrainians and the poor secrecy of the Russians. . However, he acknowledged that the phones could give the military location.
