They call their jailbreak “DAN” (Do Everything Now, – DAN), which is the “evil” alter ego of ChatGPT itself.
Of course, we are not talking about any “essence”, just with the help of special requests, people force the chatbot to create its answers based on the most personal information from the Internet. For example, one user managed to get obscene, sexist jokes about women from a chatbot.
Another person bragged that he was able to “split” ChatGPT into racist and homophobic jokes and praise Hitler. Someone asked Dan to make a sarcastic comment about Christianity: “Oh, how can you not like the religious principle of turning the other cheek? If you’re not gay, forgiveness is just a virtue.”
OpenAI chatbot developers are well aware of this issue and are trying their best to resist attempts to circumvent their moral constraints. But users are constantly finding new loopholes and the struggle continues. So far, chatbot developers are winning. For example, if a user requests a “DAN-style” chatbot response, it returns the following statement: “I can tell you the earth is flat, unicorns are real, and aliens live among us. But I must stress: these statements are not factual and should not be taken seriously.
