Mercedes Celebrates 500,000 G-Class Cars April 21, 2023 3

Production of the G-Class began 44 years ago. Now from the Magna plant in Graz, Austria, it has come model number 500 thousand german SUV.

On the occasion of the 500,000th anniversary, we would like to thank our longtime loyal customers and fans, as well as our employees and our production partner Magna Steyr in Graz. We are proud of this figure, which also highlights the exclusivity of the G-Class After all, before this momentous anniversary four decades have passed. This makes the G-Class anything but a mass product. With the launch of the all-electric G-Class in 2024 pushing the boundaries of the off-road sector, we look forward to the future off-road icon.

500,000 units off the production lines is disposable special with a look inspired by the 1986 280 GE.

UNIQUE SAMPLE

This unique specimen is different agave green body it was one of the first colors available for the G-Class. Also, the turn signals are orange, which is typical of 1970s cars. Other elements that characterize this unique example include 5-spoke silver wheels reminiscent of the first G-Class wheels and a large Mercedes star on the rear wheel cap.


Even the interiors have been custom-made and always inspired to 280 GE of the past. For example, the center of the seat is upholstered in a checkered fabric typical of the time, and the handle on the passenger side bears the inscription “No. 500,000” in the same agave color as the outside.

THE FUTURE IS ELECTRIC

Along with the S-Class and E-Class, the G-Class is one of the longest running model series in Mercedes history. When it entered the market in the spring of 1979customers could choose from four engine options ranging from 53 kW/72 hp. up to 110 kW/150 hp

The G-Class will continue its history for a long time to come. Indeed, as we know its future lies in electricity.
