I went nowhere else: UAF aircraft successfully knocked out Russian T-72B3 tank (video)

It retained the invaders’ ability to fire the damaged vehicle, but it no longer moved after being hit by a cumulative projectile.

The Ukrainian army disabled the Russian T-72B3 tank using an unmanned aerial vehicle. The video of the attack was posted on Facebook by the Steel Hornets organization, which produces ammunition and drop systems for drones.

An APU operator flying a DJI Mavic series drone spotted a Russian tank firing at Ukrainian positions on the front line. It hit the target by throwing 40 mm cumulative ammunition weighing 270 g from high. As noted by the “Steel Hornets”, it is difficult to pierce a tank with such a projectile, but this time the defenders of Ukraine succeeded.

“Even though the tank fired one more shot, the guys say the tank went nowhere and remained standing,” the manufacturers said. Reviews suggested that the cumulative projectile got into the engine cooling system, as it could no longer move.

Previously, Steel Hornets developed a new ammunition for Ukrainian warplanes. A 63 mm diameter bomb was loaded with 800 grams of explosives and metal balls for more effective destruction of manpower.

During testing, the Steel Hornets demonstrated a new bombing tactic using drones. The drone first hovered over the target, then descended rapidly and dropped ammo during the dive. This increases the speed of the projectile and, with it, its accuracy.

In April, the Air Strike Troops of the Ukrainian Armed Forces demonstrated how they blew up a Russian tank with ammunition. The operator managed to throw a grenade directly into the hatch of the invader’s combat vehicle, which was stuck in a trench.
