McLaren working on several new products. The car manufacturer recently introduced the new 750S, the successor to the 720S, a model with a 750 hp V8 engine. Apparently the builder is development of a new supercar a two-seat from the Ultimate Series line, due around 2026.
The information comes from Automotive News Europe, who had the opportunity to speak with some of the McLaren dealerships attending an important brand meeting in Woking. Therefore, sources told Automotive News Europe that the automaker is working on this supercar, which will be able to count on an electrified powertrain and technologies borrowed from the world of Formula 1.
In particular, there will be a V8 coupled with new generation hybrid system (probably a plug-in) much lighter than the one used by McLaren today. No details have been added, but it is likely the McLaren Artura Plug-in system (which will also be offered in other variants in the future). The new sports car is supposed to be the successor to the McLaren P1 and will also feature a newly designed carbon fiber monocoque that will reduce the car’s overall weight.
Another interesting detail came up during a meeting with dealers in Woking. McLaren, in fact, made it clear that in 2028new class of cars“Specifically, a 4-door and 4-seater is due to debut. No further details would be added, but everyone assumed that McLaren’s first SUV could be born. In this regard, rumors have already appeared in the past that the manufacturer is working on an SUV. After all, this segment now includes even sports brands, just remember the recent Ferrari Purosangue.
Alternatively, it could be a high-performance sedan that could become the manufacturer’s flagship. To understand more, we will have to be patient. It is possible that in the coming months there may be more information about plans to launch new McLaren models.
