Indeed now there are 70 service stations along the Autostrade per l’Italia (Aspi) network to have a fast charging infrastructure dedicated to electric vehicles. Due to the summer season, the company is accelerating the installation of charging points so that Italians and foreign tourists can travel in their car with a battery without having to leave the motorway to recharge.

As a reminder, the initial Free To X plan provides for equipping 100 filling stations with charging points (with a capacity of up to 300 kW) by the end of 2023. For EV owners, the development of the Free To X plan is certainly good news. However, there is still a lot of work to be done to make up for the lack of charging infrastructure on the Italian motorway network.

In any case, Free To X is already working on installing additional charging points, which will be activated by the summer season.
