In Russia, they boasted the “EW-resistant” drone “Buttercup”: what is it

The UAV allegedly passed the “test in Ukraine” and was sent for modernization.

The Buttercup drone, which is said to be able to withstand various electronic warfare systems, including anti-drone weapons, was developed by the Sakhalin Center for Unmanned Technologies, TASS reported. It was claimed that the engineers were sent to the troops of the Russian Federation occupation army in Ukraine for flight tests, and now the UAV is being finalized.

The unique feature of the drone, claimed by its developers, is that it can withstand electronic warfare (EW) systems.

“Chinese-made drones, according to security protocol, if they lose their satellite and radio communication, they freeze to sit after their batteries die. But Buttercup has its own “chip,” Russian engineers say.

According to them, “Buttercup” has a special setting that, when entering the suppression zone via electronic warfare, automatically “jumps” in any direction to avoid the dangerous influence of electronic warfare systems. and return to the operator or find another bypass route.

Currently, engineers are working on increasing the payload of the drone, which is currently capable of carrying 1.5 kg of ammunition. In addition to its shock function, the Buttercup can also be used as a reconnaissance aircraft. In this mode, the drone can stay in the air for an hour.
