BYD Sea Lion 07 this is new Electric SUV which the Chinese automaker presented in November 2023 during the Guangzhou Auto Show. The official debut of the new model in the Chinese market is approaching, as it appeared in the database of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT). Will we see this in Europe too? There are no exact details yet, but we are well aware that BYD has ambitious growth plans in the Old Continent market, so much so that the company has decided to build a plant in Hungary to produce its cars.
New BYD Sea Lion 07 measure Length 4830 mm, width 1925 mm, height 1620 mm, wheelbase is 2930 mm. New SUV sits on a platform electronic platform 3.0 already used for models such as BYD Seal. The SUV, whose front end has some references to the Seal and Seal U, will be able to count on 19- or 20-inch wheels depending on the version chosen. However, from behind we can see horizontally developed clusters of light. Weight ranges from 2155 to 2330 kg.
Thanks to the information that appeared on the MIIT website, you can find out more detailed information about power units. Apparently, BYD Sea Lion 07 will be offered in three different versions.
- One engine with 170 kW/231 hp. and a top speed of 210 km/h.
- One engine with 230 kW/313 hp. and a top speed of 225 km/h.
- Twin engines, four-wheel drive, 390 kW/530 hp. (160 kW + 230 kW) and a maximum speed of 225 km/h.
Power supply for power units will be batteries with LFP cells produced by BYD. However, we do not know the battery capacity that will be offered for this model.
This new car was designed by Wolfgang Egger, BYD’s head of design since 2016. from 200,000 to 260,000 yuan, that is, 25,800 – 33,500 euros. Therefore, all that remains is to wait until BYD reveals more information about this new product. Market debut is expected in the first half of 2024.
